The person who quotes your job is the person who runs the deck.
Legacy Digital Productions was founded by Scott Foster in Orange, California in 2001 and is still family owned and operated. Scott still does the work himself, which with tape means threading each cassette into a deck he maintains and watching it play. Every tape is captured in our own building, so we can tell you where yours is at any point, and the queue we quote is genuinely ours.

Work you may have seen
Alongside family collections, our parent lab converted the family’s personal video tapes for Netflix’s Lucy and Desi, and its transfers have been used by CBS, ABC, Disney Animation, Paramount and Sony. The same decks and the same hands do both.
Tape rewards patience and punishes shortcuts.
A cassette cannot be scanned. It has to be played, once, on a deck that is aligned for it, and everything that goes wrong in that pass goes wrong forever. So the unglamorous parts are the whole job: logging each tape at intake, checking it for mould and sticky binder before it touches a head, keeping a working deck for every format including the ones nobody sells any more, trying a difficult tape in a second deck, and sending the originals home in the same box as the files.

Walk in Mon to Fri, 9:00am to 4:30pm. Call ahead so someone is free to log your tapes in properly. Shipping from anywhere in the country is fine: every tape is logged at intake and returned in the same shipment as your files.
Bring us the tapes nobody else can play.
If the honest answer is that a tape cannot give more than it has, we will say so before you pay for it.
